The OC

These are some questions recently asked by my Mass Communications professor. I found them curious and fitting, as I really like The OC, and have started watching all the old episodes.
-Is Canada at risk from the spread of popular culture?
-Is there a threat of Canada becoming an American monoculture?
-What cultural values are embedded into TV programs like The OC?
-Are they specifically American?
-Are we compelled, duped, or seduced into adopting them?
-Instead of transmitting American culture can it confirm our belief in the superiority of Canada?
-Why does no one worry about the global spread of sophisticated high culture, like the success of French Impressionism or Italian Opera?
