Anna And Halley On The Front Page

The article that Halley wrote, that I mentioned yesterday, on the Huffington Post, became the main feature on front page of Huffington Post Weddings the day after it was published! They used one of the pictures from the wedding that featured Anna as well, since she was in the bridal party. Check out the screen shot:

Large Photo on the Left is from Halley's Wedding

Halley is obviously the bride, and Anna is the brunette on the left. I loved looking at these wedding shots and it is awesome that one got featured. Sadly, when the story got moved to the front page they changed the title. The article is actually "I Took My Husband's Name and Kept My Identity" not "Why I'm Glad I Took My Husband's Last Name."

Name Changes

I was out the other night for a friend's birthday, Teri was there and I think we had a brief discussion about whether she is going to take Greg's last name after they get married. I don't think she is, but I really can't remember what was said about it. The 'Last Name Debate' is actually a thing, some people have really strong opinions about it. However, as I reflect back on the various couples in my life who have recently, or not so recently, gotten married - each has dealt with their last names in their own unique way. I think, just as relationships are different for each couple, so is the choice, and reasons for the choice, of changing the last name.

- My mom took my dad's last name
- Taylor assumed Mark's last name but will keep her maiden name at work, I think
- Aimee took Mike's last name, we are excited to have more Sweetons
- Steph took Dave's last name but officially changed her name to add her maiden name as a second middle name, since she is keeping it for her photography businesses
- Kristen will be keeping her maiden name

Halley wrote a great article about her choice - read it HERE.

Armaweddin

I met Halley years ago when I went to visit Anna in Paris. She had quickly became Anna's best friend in France and they have remained close over the years. Halley is originally from Tacoma (near Seattle) but I don't exactly know where in The States she is now. The main thing I always connect with her is social media - she has always been way ahead of the times when it comes in media and the internet. Other things would be that she is smart, funny, fun, interesting, and beautiful. I am glad that Anna has stayed friends with her and from that, and Facebook, she has stayed on the edge of my radar.

She is getting married later in this month and it is going to be a very unique wedding. I had been following along on it a bit, but recently she wrote an article for The Huffington Post that explains it all in more detail - Read it here. Congratulations and best wishes!

Link's Changing

You may have noticed 'My Links' on this page change over the past few months. I have had an unwritten (until now) rule in my head that if a website wasn't updating at least once a month or so then it got the axe on my links list. Therefore I have deleted Halley's Paris Blog, Ami's Blog, and B+T's Japan Blog. It is a little sad because Halley's was hilarious but once she returned to Tacoma she stopped writing. Ami is just an amazing writer, luckily I know she will never stop writing, she has just currently picked to do it at different outlets then her blog. B+T's trip is still ongoing but they appear to be using Facebook to keep up with everyone and not their blog. Time marches on, blog use slows down, and the links get removed.

New Link

I have adjusted some of the links to the right. Halley is no longer in Paris and is back to her regular life in Tacoma, so her Blog is now just called "Halley's Blog". It is still very interesting and has flavours of Paris and her time living there still in her writing. I have added "B+T's Japan Blog" as this cute couple I know are heading to Japan and will be writing a blog about their experience. Best of luck to Brian and Tina.
