Little Gallbladder

I am at Steph's today in Ottawa, a quick turn-around trip that has me here for less than 36 hours. However, Steph and I got a chance to catch up last night, and today play a quick new card game that she had recently ordered online. The card game was designed by the same person who does The Awkward Yeti comic. He did these which Steph showed me after my gallbladder surgery last year:

Superheroes

Cuddles with Hawkman And Batman
P and Jason, October 2016

McDonald's has Justice League masks right now as part of their Happy Meals. These are pretty great! I have to say though, I am just not really into the DC comic universe like I am with Marvel, and Hawkman is continued proof of that - what is this character? Great mask though - fits on adults too. But really I don't have to choose one over the other, I can enjoy both.

Also, this photo is taken near the end of our weekend looking after four wee children, ages 1, 3, 5, and 7. Everyone is still smiling!!

Focus People

Sure, at an overarching level 'all lives matter' but that shouldn't be the global dialogue right now. I want to thank Anne for sharing this comic on her Facebook:

Hopefully A Killer?

The same comic who created How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you has a more recent post about how much cats actually kill. His observations stem from research done with attached cameras on house cats. The researchers found that one in three cats killed prey. Be sure to read the piece - it is really funny, in a scary way.

It has me wondering about Two though - will she be the one in three that is capable of killing? (Binx was.) The research seems to have followed house cats that were allowed to hunt outside, and I am curious what the numbers would be for indoor cats and their interactions with mice? Two hasn't experienced any mice yet because we don't have any at Rrunuv Bayit. Sometimes she tries to follow a small spider around but in general this apartment doesn't have mice, bugs or pests.

Casa Verde will be a different story though. We have found evidence of mice in the basement during our demo processes. So far we haven't seen any but with a house that old it will definitely be something we'll have to deal with at some point. I hope that Two is helpful but at the same time it is so awful to hear and find a cat's 'kill' that I almost wish that she would turn out to be the type to ignore them. Hopefully just her presence will be enough - all mice can just go find a cat-free house to live in.

Consider An Adult Cat

Getting a kitten vs an older cat...
.... too many of us know this pain too well.

The FULL COMIC is on 8bitrevolver's tumbler, Bonkers Adventure in a Magical Land. It suggests stepping away from the desire to adopt a cute kitten and consider saving an adult animal from a shelter. Even further, consider one that is 'special,' just because a cat is a bit dinged up doesn't mean that won't be a wonderful pet. My next cat save/adoption will be a bonded pair and I will definitely consider adult or 'damaged' pairs, however that will be many many years down the road.

University Is A Fight

---------- from Facebook

A very accurate three-part comic about life in university, grad school, and the workplace. I like the idea that post-secondary education is a daunting battle/fight - I totally felt that, especially in Engineering and during my Masters.

Comic Caturday

My Aunt gave my mom the book How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You for Christmas, which she has since lent me to read. (Yes, Two is for sure planning to kill me, but I already knew that.)

Here is a taste of the types of valuable lessons to be learned:

True For My Cats

While Binx spent most of her time in the Napping Quarters, Two is well traveled on this map and will often disregard what ever is under the covers and just sit/lie on top of it - my legs, back, hip, stomach, chest, etc.

A Cute Christmas Cat

---- from an email forward

NOTE: This year, Two was caught drinking from Santa's glass of milk. Because of this, and the fact she is evil, I was sure that she was going to get put on the 'naughty list' but Santa left her a little toy anyway.

Everywhere It's The Same

This was true at Carleton and it is annoyingly true at Ryerson, especially since after 6 years with Carleton I got used to the ridiculous winding pathways of its website, I'm still continually lost with Ryerson's.
