This Is My Fight Song

Weekend trip to Niagara Falls and I returned with the following:

- Shin pain from dancing
- Promises of Journey Behind The Falls and Wizard Golf next year
- A bottle of wine with my art on the label
- Chocolate covered beer nuts
- A losing mini putt score but joy about a hole-in-one
- Rachel Platten in my head, still with incorrect lyrics
- New definition for Liquid Gold (breast milk)
- A killer hangover that lasted for 3 days

Not Used To Toronto Prices

Sunday Mornin' Coming Down - A post about my Dad each Sunday, named after a song that he loved.

I am looking forward to spending this Wednesday at Hey Lucy's with Kristen and Tessa. We have been trying to get together on a Wednesday for a long time, and this date has been in my planner for a few weeks now. Hopefully Kiyomi can come too and we can celebrate her birthday. Danielle might come too and maybe even Noah and Jason. Could turn into a big gathering!

The reason we are looking to go on a Wednesday is that their normally $9 martinis are only $4.50.

I was telling my mom this and she told me that her and Dad went their once before or after going to the theater. (Hey Lucy's is in the Entertainment District near all the major Toronto theaters.) Well, I gather that my dad got very excited about the 1/2 price martinis (I don't know if they went on a Wednesday, but the deal is also available every day before 5pm.) Anyway, unfortunately, my dad saw the $4.50 price at the top of the menu and must not have read very closely after hearing that it was 50% off, so he assumed that it was half off that price, and therefore $2.25. Well, I guess he was pretty surprised when the bill came. I can't imagine a drink in Toronto ever being less than $3!

Terrifying

This is Daniel, I believe he is about 5 months or so now. He has his mother's, Kiyomi's, eyes. However, on a baby they are almost surreal. He looks straight into your soul! It is breathtakingly beautiful. On a side note: What is it about boy babies and the drooling?

Kristen Is Getting Married

Today is Kristen's wedding day! She will be marrying Noah on her Aunt's estate in the countryside near St. Catherine's. I can't wait to see her walk down the aisle. It is going to be so amazing to be at this wedding, I have watched this relationship grow from its early days with Kristen uncontrollable beaming smile that occurred with every text message from Noah, tried to provide comfort and insight during struggles over different thinking patterns and lifestyles, seen their excitement at moving in together and the general joy that they bring to each other every single day, received the phone call from a thrilled Kristen announcing their engagement, and over the last little while helped fold paper cranes for their wedding and prepared to be their MC. I am so happy for them and so excited to see how this magical day will unfold!

At her bachelorette a couple of weeks ago we made her wear a veil to help her 'prepare' for her big day, even though I don't think she is planning on wearing a veil today so really it was just to slightly embarrass her.

Not Enough Sleep

Last night I went to bed at 11:45pm and because of an early meeting I woke up at 6:30am - this means I had less than 7 hours of sleep. It wasn't really enough for me. I didn't feel sleep deprived by any means, but the first few hours of the morning were pretty rough. It isn't really right to complain, and I didn't, especially when I thought about the other people around me:

My boss wakes up at 5:30am everyday so that she can take her dog to the park in the mornings and regularly gets less then 6 hours of sleep a night.

Just like my Grandma, my Dad has always stayed up very late, not going to bed until 2am or later. Due to years of terrible sleep patterns, now, even as he ages and his body changes, and even though he has the luxury of retirement, he still sometimes spends less than 5 hours in bed.

Jason, Tessa, and a few other  friends suffer from insomnia and have nights where they get less than 4 hours of sleep.

Kiyomi has a week-old baby and, due to feedings, is getting less then 3 hour increments in which to sleep.

So, I guess it really could be much worse for me.

The Nephews Are Coming

This morning Jason heard about the birth of his third nephew and by this evening we were at the hospital helping to welcome the tiny baby into the world. Kristen's sister is due to have a little boy in the coming couple of months and last week Noah became an Uncle for the first time when Kyomi gave birth to the beautiful Daniel. It is a great time for baby boys! Congrats to all!

Going Out

Self-Portrait Online
By Christine Sweeton
We kept laughing, this shot was much harder to get than you would think! I need a camera, these webcam-glam-shots are awful!! (I prefer the stick-your-hand-out-camera-glam-shot, which I take so many of when drunk.)
