Listen To Bob

Bob Barkers famous sign off at the end of Price Is Right was, "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered." Well, Mom listened and (almost reluctantly) had Rasta neutered a couple of weeks ago. You can see some post-surgery pictures of him in her recent blog post, he looks the same as before - adorable. I never thought twice about getting pets fixed, both Binx and Two were spayed. I was never concerned about it, even though it is expensive (more so for female animals than males). I feel like it is an important part of responsible pet ownership. So to anyone with a new pet or considering one in the future, remember to budget in this important procedure.

Not reluctant about the neutering, reluctant about the declawing. I feel it is causing unnecessary pain but in Rastas case I think it wasa necessary.

Agreed! The great thing about rescuing all our dogs from shelters has been that they are already spayed/neutered and up to date on all their shots.

Totally agree Chris! The one thing that annoys me about the rescue sites is that people do not have to prove that they can financially support having a pet. I am amazed by how many people don't get their pets shots updated or have the pets to the vet for a check up. Similar to people and vehicles, regular maintenance reduces large expenses later. We put away a small amount each month to cover Bronx's vet bills (self insurance vs pet insurance).
