I had my cholecystectomy today (surgery to have my gallbladder removed.) I had to be at the hospital for noon and then the surgery was scheduled for 2, I was home by 7pm. There was a small chance that they would need to do an 'open' procedure and I would have an incision to recover from. As soon as abdominal muscles get cut recovery becomes longer, more complicated, and painful.
Luckily they were able to complete the 90 minute procedure laparoscopically. Modern medical technology is amazing. Now my gallbladder is gone and I just have three tiny cuts around my rib cage and a larger incision in my belly button (aka no sliced muscles.) I am looking forward to healing quickly and having an awesome belly button scar.
Teri mentioned that her dad has had laparoscopic surgery before but that it was robotic, which is even more fascinating.

Thank you for not posting the surgeons photo of your gallbladder! Love you and hope your continuing to feel good.

I haven't seen it yet! He sent it to my phone but the photo wouldn't download. I need to ask him if he still have the picture when I see him for my post-op on Thursday.
