As there are little other New Year songs, it seems to be a hollow win for Auld Lang Syne. I love it, I would even say it is one of my favorite Christmas Carols so as to put it in a bigger category. 'Auld lang syne' is Scots and from the 1700's so to translate, it means literally 'old long since' which is like our current 'long long ago' , or even 'once upon a time'. It is more of a toast like 'To your health,' but is closer to 'For old time's sake' or 'To the good old days.'
