There are a few different techniques for painting stairs that you need to be able to use, I chose to paint every-other stair for the basement. Then after it dries you can use the painted ones and do the others.

This technique made getting in and out of the basement into a bit of a game - it reminds me of Mario Brothers. Jason does not like this game; he struggled to get up and down them. The bottom right of the photo shows me feet, wearing Reno Flats.
